Time spent with our pets not only makes us feel great, but also contributes significantly to our overall health. So, if you’re an outdoors enthusiast, and you have a pet, you’ll love our selections for the most dog-friendly trails in Naperville, Illinois!
Greene Valley Forest Preserve
You and your dog will enjoy the pristine conditions at Naperville’s Greene Valley Forest Preserve. This beautiful landscape offers 12 miles of trails and is home to 540 native plant species. Its diverse flora and fauna makes it one of the most botanically diverse parks in the state.
Greene Valley’s extensive off-leash dog area also includes separate sections for small and large dogs. The dog area is open during park hours but is closed on Wednesdays until 10 a.m. for maintenance. Visiting dogs must obtain a permit for park use, but Fido’s presence is definitely welcome here!
The Whalon Lake grounds offers access to about 4 paved miles of the DuPage River Trail.
In addition to its spacious 11.9-acre off-leash dog park, the Whalon Lake nature preserve also offers an exclusive 1.9-acre area for smaller dogs. The dog park features a dedicated dog exercise area as well as benches, which allow visitors to relax and connect with fellow pet owners. Remember that our canine visitors must have a permit to use the Whalon Lake nature preserve.
As can be seen, you won’t have to leave Fido home again, once you see what the most dog-friendly trails in Naperville, Illinois, have to offer.
