Sandcastles and Salutations

You have a beautiful indoor pool and sun deck at Brookdale on the Park Apartments, and it’s a great way to spend the weekend. But we all know there are times when one wants to don a bathing suit and head to the beach. If you find yourself in the mood for some weekend, outdoor fun, we’ve got a place you may want to check out. It’s called Centennial Beach and this year, swimming there is going to be extra special.

The beach is having a birthday! Memorial Day weekend, it’s going to be sand cakes and salutations all around. Open swim starts at 11 a.m. on the 28th and the venue will remain open most days until early September. So you may want to spring for an annual membership as opposed to a daily one. Fees are nominal, starting as low as $3 per out-of-town guest, and include access to many of the area’s best amenities.

With paid admission, Brookdale on the Park residents may hit the beach’s waterslides and 15-foot deep pools. Or, they could frolic in Centennial Beach’s grassy areas and enjoy a light repast at one of the well-maintained picnic tables. And yes, residents may bring food to the beach that’s prepared in Brookdale on the Park’s catering kitchen or in one of their own. In addition, they could grab a picnic lunch-to-go from any number of Naperville’s food purveyors.

If you do decide to hit the beach, be prepared to show the lifeguards on duty your swimming skills. And if you don’t have swimming skills just yet, don’t worry. There’s still time to build them up at the Brookdale on the Park Apartment’s pool.
