Whether you just started running or have been hitting the pavement for years, there’s something for everyone. We’ve put together a list of the four best running trails near our apartments in Naperville, Brookdale on the Park. Pick your favorite, lace up your running shoes, and enjoy!

Dorothea Weigand Riverfront Park

Right around the corner from our Naperville apartments, the beautiful Dorothea Weigand Riverfront Park boasts miles of trail popular with both bikers and trail runners alike.  

Since the route is partially shaded, it makes for both good summertime running and fantastic fall visuals. 

West Branch DuPage River Trail

With 26-miles of trail available for running, the West Branch DuPage River Trail covers quite a bit of ground. Literally.

This trail meanders through picturesque natural areas such as Timber Ridge, West DuPage Woods, and Blackwell Forest Preserve on its way through western DuPage County. Pick a distance that matches your current training level and enjoy the view!

Knock Knolls

With rivers, ponds, and creeks in abundance, Knock Knolls is a favorite local haunt. Whether you’re looking to go for a long walk, shoot the breeze while fishing, or enjoy some classic trail running, you can’t go wrong here.

McDowell Grove Forest Preserve

If you’re a fan of loop trails, you’re in luck. The three-and-a-half mile loop at McDowell Grove Forest Preserve, popular with locals, is perfect for runners of all skill levels. Though it’s busy on the weekends, it’s busy for a reason. It’s one of the best trails in town.
